1941: Stalin and Hitler

I was asked by Georgi to give my opinion, did Stalin really planned to launch the pre-emptive strike against Hitler in summer 1941 as described in the books of Suvorov. My short answer is, yes, he planned. The only question is when exactly? I suggest to read not only Suvorov on this topic as he is not having access to Russian archives but some other historians do. By now the archives are mostly closed again. Probably the best book which is written internationally on this topic is from A.Pleshakov “Stalin’s folly”. You can easily find it in Amazon. In Russian the new book on the same topic is written by Mark Solonin. I wonder how so many western “classical historians” even now try to ignore this massive evidence on Soviet plans. This probably comes from attempt to forget the first period of WW II, when Stalin and Hitler were best allies. Stalin’s plans of course didn’t make Hitler innocent victim of bad Stalin as he is described to be innocent victim of Hitler. They both were criminals and murderers, both killed lot of people and burned books. It is only hard to understand why so many people still believe that one of them is better than another.

And that’s the task, which we have to face now. XXI century has no place for cults and myths, or at least shouldn’t have. Thank you for your comment, Mr. Laar!

    Dear Victor,
Matter of-fact, it is some differents:) Hitler was against everybody outside Germany and little inside. Stalin, was against his own people, everybody who lived within border os the former Soviet Union. This is why Cherchil said Hitler is worse.
Bacause with Stalin they could reach some agreement and give him small countries such as Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania as a some sort of prize to satisfy his appetite just to keep him within former Russian Empire boundaries and stop Stalin when he fight against Findland. Why? Because he went to far:)
But Hitler, start asking more, after Munich and start threaten interests of others.
To conclude my post I have to say Stalin was worse, this is my personal oppinion.

Pärnu Postimees.

“Я очень доволен, что мы здесь, а враждебные идеологии выкинуты на свалку истории. Смотреть на то, как примерные коммунистические деятели стоят в строю и поют гимн Эстонии по поводу 90-й годовщины Республики, будет очень приятным чувством”, — сказал Лаар.

You may also read a book by Sergey Pereslegin “Вторая Мировая война между Реальностями”, where he shows that there were just no possibility for USSR to “launch the pre-emptive strike against Hitler in summer 1941″. While indeed – there was a plan for that, but comparing to other Red Army plans existed – quite tiny and not considered to be important.

BTW, similar plans exist, imo, currently in every country with nuke weapon (no matter of what their governments are saying on this subject officially), but we (and they) did not cry for that on every corner…
